A prosperous world with community and economy integrally linked

What is Community Exchange Institute?

The Community Exchange Institute is a coalition partner of Community Exchange Network of Portland (CEN|PDX), and is responsible for promoting and maintaining the coalition’s vision, “a prosperous world with community and economy integrally linked.” Community Exchange Institute (CEI) and coalition partners set out to intentionally re-integrate community and commerce by discovering, analyzing and implementing new economic models.

What does Community Exchange Institute do?

The Community Exchange Institute (CEI) investigates current and developing economic models for the public benefit of all sectors.  CEI acknowledges that new economic models are needed in order to advance environmental and socioeconomic sustainability in the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area and throughout the Pacific Northwest.  By investigating new economic models, CEI will present analysis of model viability, suggestions for strategic implementation, and solutions that satisfy legitimate human interests without threatening the integrity of current systems.  Additionally, CEI will provide the following services:

  • Market segmentation analysis of geographic, personality, demographic, psychographic and cultural differences in order to better understand how new economic models impact local economies and their sectors
  • Develop strategies that will encourage businesses, nonprofit organizations, and other sectors to work together, share ideas, reduce redundancy, and develop key areas of their service(s)
  • Publish project results in related trade journals
  • Organize conferences, conversations, and presentations to educate the public of alternative economic models

Community Exchange Institute is a nonprofit organization with the Cascadia Education Project, 501c (3).
