What is Xchange Stewards, LLC?

Xchange Stewards is a new trade exchange in Portland, Oregon providing local businesses a low cost line of credit allowing them to engage in cashless trading.

How does trading with trade credit work?

Trading with trade credit eliminates the restrictions of one-on-one bartering where each business must want what the other has to offer. An Xchange Stewards broker works with you to bring your company new sales, increased market share and to minimize cash outlay for everyday business expenses. Clients of an exchange use trade credit, instead of cash, to handle their transactions.

How will my business profit from the trade exchange?

Trading with trade credit produces new business – allowing you to expand your market and maintain your cash-paying customers. Trade credit conserves cash. If you own a hotel that has ten vacant rooms at $100/night and you need a new copy machine priced at $1,000, trade credit provides you a way to buy your copier, fill your rooms (at your cost on the rooms) and maintain your cash.

How will joining Xchange Stewards benefit my business?

Using trade credit will give your business a competitive edge by helping you retain cash, purchase the goods and services you need when money is tight, and move excess inventory.

May I pay my employees with trade credit?

Yes, Xchange Stewards will set up a sub-account for each employee you would like to pay in trade credit. Xchange Stewards will have options available allowing you to pay employees trade credit on a set time schedule or based on performance.

Can nonprofit organizations join Xchange Stewards?

Yes, absolutely! While a nonprofit organization is not allowed to go into commitment, they may receive trade credit donations from member businesses. An Xchange Stewards broker will help you find the most giving business members and even help promote your grant proposal. And, remember member businesses, donating trade credit is a tax deduction too.

What does it mean to be in commitment? And, how is that different from debt?

The Xchange Stewards trade exchange creates a direct relationship between a creditor (+) and a debtor (-). Going into commitment means making your skills, goods, and services available to other participants. Debt is contractual and repayment is all that is required. Commitment is an expanded expression of your integrity to participate in the Xchange Stewards trade exchange.
